Welcome to the 7th SFSC

    Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to announce that the 7th International Symposium on Solar Fuels and Solar Cells (7th SFSC) will be resumed after the COVID-19 pandemic. The symposium will be held in Dalian, China for 4 days on September 24-27, 2024.

Utilization of limited fossil fuels as energy resources may cause not only energy crisis but also climate changes due to emission of green-house gas CO2. It is urgent in this century for mankind to mitigate energy infrastructures from traditional fossil fuels to renewable energies. Energy and environment problems have been emerged as the major challenging issues for the global sustainable development. The motivation of the 7th SFSC is to continuously provide a highly standard academic forum for scholars to exchange and share their research experiences and ideas, present recent research advances, discuss scientific challenges, and identify the future research directions and needs in the development of efficient technologies for conversion of solar energy into solar fuels and solar electricity. We hope that the 7th SFSC symposium will bring researchers in the corresponding fields from all regions of the world, and open up new avenues for research collaborations at both regional and global levels.

The SFSC is a highly standard biannual symposium rotationally launched and chaired by Prof. Can Li from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Prof. Licheng Sun from Dalian University of Technology (now at Westlake University, China) started from 2008. The 7th SFSC was planned for 2020 but canceled due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. Based on previous six very successful symposia, we are anticipating a more exciting one for this 7th SFSC.

Through the 7th SFSC, we hope that more innovative scientific ideas towards efficient solar energy conversion into solar fuels and solar electricity can be triggured. We also sincerely hope that collaborations between individual scientists, institutes or even countries can be fostered since energy and environmental problems are global issues.

The organization committee sincerely welcomes colleagues from home and abroad working in the field of solar fuels or solar cells actively participate in the symposium.  We hope you will have an impressive and memorable experience on the 7th SFSC in 2024, and look forward to meeting you in the beautiful and vibrant coastal city Dalian!

    Sincerely,

    Can Li
